July 9- 14, 2018

STUFFEDArts will host a week-long summer intensive for advanced students and emerging professionals. The program will immerse students in New York City’s dance and social communities. This program is dedicated to strengthening artistic growth and expanding social awareness. Each day, dancers will take part in morning class taught by local working dance professionals. Lunch time discussions on artistic action and community development will include shared group meals. The afternoon will  hold two creative process sessions with 2018 STUFFED Artists in Residence, Paul Singh and Nicole Von Arx. 

The entire program will be hosted at our home, the historic Judson Memorial Church.

Resident Artists

Paul Singh

Paul Singh earned his BFA in Dance from the University of Illinois, USA. In NYC he has danced for Gerald Casel, the puppet/theater company Phantom Limb, Will Rawls, Risa Jaroslow, Douglas Dunn, Christopher Williams, Faye Driscoll, and was in the inaugural cast of Punchdrunk theater company’s "Sleep No More”. In Russia and Spain he was in the creation cast for the opera "The Indian Queen" under the direction of Peter Sellars. In Berlin he danced for Peter Pleyer in a large scale Improvisation work. He has had his work presented at the Judson Church, New York Live Arts, Joe’s Pub, Dixon Place, La Mama E.T.C, and the Kennedy Center.  When traveling, Paul teaches Contact improvisation classes around the world. When home, he choreographs work for his company, Singh & Dance. He is currently on faculty at Movement Research, Sarah Lawrence College, and The Juilliard School.

Nicole Von Arx

Nicole was invited to present her work internationally at the Bâtiment des Forces Motrices, TanzFest Winterthur 2018, La Fête de la Musique on the stage of l’ADC, and the Flux Laboratory in Switzerland, and at Reykjavík Culture Night in Iceland. In New York, her choreography appeared at the Museum of Moving Image, STUFFED at Judson Church, The Wild Project, The 14th Street Y/YCabaret, the Ailey Citigroup Theatre and Gowanus Arts. In 2017, she was one of the three emerging choreographers commissioned to create a new 30min work for The Dance Gallery Festival Level UP program. In 2011 and 2015, she had the pleasure to create solo works on students from The Ailey School and SUNY Purchase. Nicole is currently creating and performing in New York City under the name NVA & Guests. She is a dance captain and company member at Company XIV for the productions of Nutcracker Rouge, Paris and Orpheus & Eurydice.
